Race Chip Pro 2 Installed - owencardew - 28-04-2017 11:21am Hi Guys, Haven't really found much in terms of reviews of this prior to installing one on my SD4 so thought i would mention my experience with it. I fitted the Race Chip Pro 2 (The difference in price and performance against the Ultimate didn't really make sense to me). Can honestly say its changed the car into a completely different creature. Almost no turbo lag, better performance in D, and almost savage performance in S Mode compared to before where i felt it wasn't far off an Ox-Cart off the line. Also notice the whistle of the Turbo much more than before. Definitely would recommend it to anyone not happy with the stock performance of the SD4. Not noticing much of a change in Fuel Consumption, but in a Diesel thats never going to be an issue anyway... If anyone has any questions, let me know, more than willing to help where i can! Cheers, Owen RE: Race Chip Pro 2 Installed - Goodfella - 21-05-2017 05:58pm Do you need to declare this to your insurance company? Interested in doing it too but not if it hikes the insurance up RE: Race Chip Pro 2 Installed - XFullFatTim - 21-05-2017 08:07pm Any upgrade has to be declared these days otherwise you run the risk of a "non disclosure" denial of a claim - even changing wheels/ tyres can cause issues but certainly any mechanical "upgrades" including remaps and chips should be checked before you make the changes. Also they can affect warranties not just insurance. I converted my Defender from a Had Top (van) to a 6 seater station wagon and it didn't cause any issues but the first question that I was asked was "have you made any mechanical changes?" Which I hadn't other than upgrading the brakes - insurers were happy and didn't even want an engineers report despite having increased the passenger capacity from 1 to 5. I did do a very common upgrade through a well known company too. The worst companies for not permitting power upgrades without doubling or even tripling premiums are the "Direct Lines" and "Admirals" of the insurance world, they hate anything that is not OEM RE: Race Chip Pro 2 Installed - sasdiscos - 21-05-2017 09:21pm I must say. I had an escort cosworth. It was stolen and the insurance company paid out in full. It had a full stainless exhaust, quad headlamps and koni adjustable shocks. When it was found written off they paid out what the standard car was worth excluding modifications. They didn't void it, just classed it as standard. I do wonder exactly how ins company's policy's work sometimes. It even had a stage 2 ecu remap. All was checked by the under writer and the inspection. I got 13k. At the time that was a good price. If I still had it now it would be more like 45k. Still. Humph! |
