Don't have an answer for your question. What I do know is that an accident never can be the fault of too big mirrors! It is always the fault of a too small gap you (or your wife) wanted to squeeze the car through. Even with no mirrors this can happen

I think you will find if you compare the width of the car with the mirrors out for a pre 2014 and a post 2014 the width is unchanged
