My dealer (Taggarts Maryhill) didn't appear to know about the recall when I mentioned it to them, but then today knew all about it. Mine is in getting this and a few rattles etc sorted today - they've taken their time though as I have a freelander courtesy car overnight (possibly for two days).

Mine is now booked in Friday and I am assured it will take around 30 mins for the check to be completed. The dealer suggested they had looked at a few already and none had shown up with the problem which seems to contribute to the view that the overall risk is low.

I had heard that the recall letters themselves will be out shortly.

Called my dealer last week (Williams Manchester). they knew about the problem and it went in the day after and was fixed while I waited and I got a wash and vac (the car that is). Strangely every time Williams vac my car they never do the boot

Have done the software update,
+1 They said they had to replace it regardless off it needed doing or not as it was a recall.so all done along with 1st service and software update.

Sounds like bull as the TOPIx bulletin specifically says to replace ONLY if the fault is discovered. The dealers are only supplied with a max of two kits, and have to order a replacement when they have a 'hit' on a car that has had to have been repaired.

Looks like your car was one of the 4% with the fault.... but the dealer didn't want to admit that to you.

Sounds like the dealer didn't read the bulletin more like! LR won't pay him for anything other than rectifying the parts in the recall notice so check your invoice carefully Barton that they haven't tried to charge you for additional parts

no they only charged £299 for the service.they told me it had to changed as it was in the range of vin numbers.they had the car for 4 hours this morning to do the work including software update on the start/stop.

Worst bit was having to have a freelander as a loan car for the morning.made me realize i made the right choice swapping 12 months ago.

HI Barton, just jumped over here from the 'other side'.
I used to have a freelander 2 and thought it was great....until my Evoque. Now it feels sort of square and tall Laughing

Mines's been in and checked with no problems identified. Of the vehicles they say they have had in, none look to have had the fault.

On a different matter they have agreed to replace one of the key fobs as the button cover has become detached. Can't see how it was ever stuck in place! No problems agreeing to change it though.
