Definitely the Car software will be held in some Flash Memory either in the main ECU or as a seperate ECU for the entertainment system, and the internal HDD is probably only for to store the NAV software/maps and used to store CD's. But whether any features like the Camera are add on's have configuration stored on the internal HDD is LR design decision I would guess.
