Did you see the robots welding the inner wings etc at the beginning etc PhilSkill. Our factory visit was last March 2012, but from memory, our tour guide emphasised the difference between the Freelander and the RRE parts of the factory. Saying Freelander steel construction and RRE aluminium. That said we did see robots gripping, spinning, and rotating panels with sparks flying, but our guide then took us to an area where the sides of the body were joined to the floor and roof, here he showed us a brass rivet. He said at this point you will see the glue being applied the panels will be joined together and the rivets fired into place. So that is what confused me, I'm no engineer, just a car owner and enthusiast. RE: So what would you like to see on 2014MY - PhilSkill - 08-04-2013 10:58pm A lot of the black strips applied by moving large parts of metal around the glue gun nozzel is as much a sealant between panels as a glue if I remember correctly too. Faux is fake in French.and fake or imitation leather, is simply vinyl, but a good quality Faux leather example is the Mercedes Benz MB-Tex. It's low maintenance, extremely durable, and offers an alternative to those who prefer something that was not from an animal. RE: So what would you like to see on 2014MY - jitenc - 09-04-2013 04:36am I still get comments that Victoria Beckham did a good job designing the evoque!!! I would like her not to be endorsed for the MY2014..., I would not like to be seen driving a motorised designer Handbag !!! RE: So what would you like to see on 2014MY - XFullFatTim - 09-04-2013 09:12am There are some versions of the Evoque that currently have fake leather in places, just that you have not noticed it........... so it must be a pretty good imitation that nobody here has posted that it looks like lino. RE: So what would you like to see on 2014MY - cjking - 21-05-2013 01:21pm Two things I really want (to the extent that I'm considering not buying a new car unless it has both) are adaptive cruise control and satnav with traffic info as good as TomTom HD. If a middle-of-the-range Golf has adaptive cruise control as standard, I don't see how an Evoque can not have it. Virtually all manufacturers are guilt of providing sub-par satnav. I can't believe that car manufacturers can't see that satnav that gives you the best route through traffic on 10 commuting journeys a week is something every car should have, at least as an option. So far only Alfa Romeo and Renault offer built-in TomTom. If I'm not mistaken VB's design input was only related to the Special Edition, other than that she is a Brand Ambassador for the RRE. RE: So what would you like to see on 2014MY - XFullFatTim - 21-05-2013 09:14pm Evo, you are as usual right! The only connection between VB and Evoque is the VB Edition, nothing more |
