Thanks to Liam and Taggarts for their efforts. I am a bit miffied that the engine compartment doesn't look pristine any more, and there was certainly a residual smell for a few days, when the engine heated up. However, all does seem to be running smoothly now.
I got the software update for ECO stop-start done at the same time. I didn't see anythign on Topix advising personnel to look out for cars reporting fuel smells, though.
Interestingly, I am getting easily over 36mpg on my daily commute, nearly 37mpg. I was getting around 33 before. Perhaps the leaky fuel pipe is the difference, or maybe my driving style has gone "pipe and slippers" after changing frmo my previous nippier runabout!
*Though I do carry a small fire extinguisher in the car, now!
Good news. Perhaps find a local detailer who can do an engine bay detailing for you and send the bill to LR....

Note to Liam. Assuming that this forum represents a small minority of Evoque owners and a few have had the fire issue doesnt it point to a potentially bigger more seroius problem across the whole production run.
What is being done to resolve this. Recall ????. JLR really could do without bad publicity. Lucky for you that you dont sell the Diesel in the US, there would be uproar at even 1 fire

Our 10 week old diesel Evoque burst into flames on our driveway on Saturday.
We had taken a short drive and as we parked there was a plastic/rubber burning smell. We got out and white smoke was coming out of the bonnet. We popped the bonnet and there was a small fire at the bottom of the engine on the drivers side. This rapidly became a blaze. The whole front end caught fire with the car only a couple of feet from our house...and with burning oil pouring down the drive way toward the house.
We had to fight the fire ourselves for almost half an hour until the fire brigade came and it took them a further 15 minutes to extinguish the fire.
This was a terrifying experience. Fortunately our house was being decorated and so the garage was full of furniture, otherwise the fire would have taken our house too.
The car is still being assessed for the cause.

Mate, glad your house has not suffered as result of this!
Sorry to hear about your Evoque, but hope they can get to the bottom of it. Assume it wasn't raining at the time you parked it?
