12 1/2 new pence if I remember correctly which would buy you just over half a gallon of 5 star petrol when I started driving.

Having only 1 month ago paid £400 for its first service, it's pretty sickening to know that for another £100 people can service their cars for 5 years. Rolling Eyes

I was offered a service plan by my dealer when I got my car in Dec 11 so I'm surprised that your dealer didn't try to sell you one in April 12. Believe me, I wish I could get the plan for £499 but just have to accept that I can't.

There was never any mention to me of any service plan!

Maybe a dealer group thing rather than an LR thing - Hunters

When I left school in 1974 2/6d would buy me 5 pints of draught Allsops lager onboard the ship, if we went to South Africa and had to refill the barrels the price dropped to 4d a pint for Castle lager! BUT in those days my trainees monthly pay was £25. In 1976 I drove a Range Rover for the first time out in Dubai and vowed that one day I would own one. Then my pay had increased to £125 a month thanks to 30%+ inflation - I eventually saved up enough to buy my first Range Rover in 2003 - a Monte Carlo Blue with Navy hide and parchment trim SE, cost £42000, the same price as my house!
