RE: Shell Fuel vs Supermarket Fuel - doug - 11-09-2012 09:35am Welcome Timhum, Thank you for shareing with us you findings. RE: Shell Fuel vs Supermarket Fuel - FujiSan - 11-09-2012 10:32am That's more or less my understanding as well, Tim. I actually work for Bosch (there, I said it) and although not in the Diesel and Gasoline Systems Divisions, I have close contact with the guys and gals there and have more than my fair share of access to technical data about this sort of stuff. There is an awful lot of 'heresay and quasi scientific' stuff flying about, as Tim said above - but the reality is sometimes very boring. RE: Shell Fuel vs Supermarket Fuel - tetstb - 12-09-2012 09:08am I drove back from Brussels on Friday and filled up just before the channel tunnel un France, I think I paid 1.55 euros. Got to Charnock Richard and topped up and paid almost the same in £, shocking. I think when I head back on Sunday I'll take the wifes' E350 as it gets me easily 48mpg + so should be cheaper RE: Shell Fuel vs Supermarket Fuel - XFullFatTim - 12-09-2012 09:45am Bob, next time you do that run come round the M25, up the M40 and come off at the Gaydon/ British Motor heritage Centre turnoff (J12 IIRC). About 1/2mile off the motorway there is an Esso station in Gaydon village that is generally 10p a litre lower than the services a mile up the M40. Last Friday I filled up with 50litres at the Shell next door to Lookers Park Royal (not their own forecourt) at £1.419 ppl didn't need to refill at Gaydon as the gauge hadn't moved off the full by the time I got there, then on Sunday I put in 35litres of Shell again at £1.419ppl by travelling less than a mile off the motorway at J34, Lancaster North which was enough to get me to Stirling with just over a half a tank left. Both those filling stations can be reached either south or north bound on the M6 and M40 RE: Shell Fuel vs Supermarket Fuel - XFullFatTim - 12-09-2012 03:18pm Just achieved driving 16miles from home to Stirling with roofrails and crossbars on. Shell Regular diesel, driving at 55-60 on almost flat straight road, normally (ie before the 1st service) the very best I could get would be 39 mpg. Just about to fuel up at the nearby Shell and it will go on Fuelly so will be interesting to see what the brim to brim mpg is RE: Shell Fuel vs Supermarket Fuel - FujiSan - 12-09-2012 03:39pm That's a good number Tim. RE: Shell Fuel vs Supermarket Fuel - tetstb - 12-09-2012 03:47pm Cheers for the tip. RE: Shell Fuel vs Supermarket Fuel - IKM - 12-09-2012 04:10pm Tim, was that brill mpg achieved in Dynamic mode? Thanks RE: Shell Fuel vs Supermarket Fuel - XFullFatTim - 12-09-2012 04:13pm IKM, Yes but it doesn't make any difference to the gearing or shift pattern only the steering and suspension. Maybe you are mixing S mode in the gearbox and Dynamic on the TR? It was in normal D on the selector |
