New to this forum as just picked up a 2012 Prestige SD4 last new but WOW what a set of pessimistic replies to such a simple question which none of you answered
In answer to your question OP - 434mhz is the European standard so this is the one you should go for - 315mhz is for other countries mainly USA market as this frequency is illegal to use for this purpose in the UK
feel free to order 434mhz keys off ebay as all you get is a BLANK KEY - which needs to be programmed at your local dealer or a LR specialist repair centre

Wouldn't you need the lost key disabled, and does this add extra cost?

If you have keyless entry then the system would now only recognise 2 keyfobs as a recent update to the system software was made as a result of all the cars that were being stolen with cloned "keys". If you take both your fobs to an LR dealer then they will reset the car's system to recognise only those two fobs. This is for car with Keyless Entry, if you don't have that then I'm not sure how the car recognises the key fob, I assume that the system is very similar and will only recognise the fobs linked to the car's ECU.

That's great thanks. I do have keyless entry. So, as I have only one key, if I take another to LR to program it's good to know the lost one will be no good.
Just a word of warning to those looking at buying a fob of ebay, I noticed some listed said they can't be programmed at a dealer. Not sure why but worth noting. I'd want my key programmed at a dealer for sure.

I've just today had my Keyless Vehicle Module replaced on my 2012 Dynamic under warranty as it was playing up and wouldn't recognise my keys. It couldn't be updated by the LRA technician as it was 'no longer supported'. Is that the module that only two keys are linked to?

TBH I don't know, I had my 2014MY with keyless checked out and the software was upgraded just before it was sold back to the delearship. My 2015MY RRS has keyless entry and so far I haven't needed any updates on that although at the end of March it will be due its first service and I expect that it will need a while on the computer being upodated as there are a host of things showing on Topix now that it is due and a keyless entry update is one of them.

Not quite on topic but on the subject of Keyless Entry.
After a spate of burglaries lately I decided to put car keys in a locked bureau in the hall directly under an alarm sensor.
I had to go into garage yesterday, brushed against Evoque and it unlocked. To make sure I locked it and unlocked a couple of times. The hall is the other side of garage wall but I was surprised how strong the signal was.
At least I found out rather than a burglar!

Yes definitely can be done. I ordered a USED smart Fob for our '14 Evoque Prestige and had it Programmed today at the dealership. I got lucky and paid ~$136 Canadian Total, including programming! The LR dealership I went to called the dealership I bought it from and they covered the programming.
And I would like to give an endorsement to the guy on Ebay that I bought it from. I made a couple offers and we finally agreed on a price. So I paid for it, and the next day he calls me stating that his technician does not think it will be able to be programmed to my Evoque! He gave me a chance to inquire more before he shipped it, and offered to refund me if I so chose. I was blown away by his gesture, most guys wouldn't care after it was paid for and would just ship it. So at this point I'm second guessing my research, and after talking to local LR dealer, I called Mike (name?) back and decided to give it a go. And as stated previously it works! I couldn't be happier!
He has another but still, as always, buyer is responsible for end results when buying USED. Also Note this is 315 MHZ
