Land Rover also has approved "service only" outlets that are not dealerships, the problem is finding out who they are! They used to be listed in the back of the service manual but aren't any longer

Hello

The search facility within the LR website lists approved service centres - but all in my area were linked with a main showroom too.

prices as follows

Dealer 1 HUNTERS Derby :- £460.00Laughing
Dealer 2 GORDON LAMB Chesterfield :- £360.00Wink (to be fair they did come down to £325.00 after haggling)
Dealer 3 GUY SAMON Sheffield :- £280.00Very Happy
Dealer 4 STRATSTONE Nott`m :- £330.00Confused but will match my best price at £280.00, and will collect this tuesdayVery Happy

Dealer 1 ask me if I`d like it booking in and I replied "not at them prices!, when you serviced my disco 4 it wasn`t anywhere near that price." Her reply was well your new car is a "range Rover and not a Land rover, sir!" what`s that all about!?!

I will put dealers names by prices if anybodies interested to save time and effort of ringing about and if ok with mods

Have to admit from previous experience I wouldn't use Stratstone at £2.80 let alone £280. I really wouldn't allow them to service a roller skate!

Part of the first service is to change the pollen filter (circa £15) and air filter (circa £22).

At 7000 miles does anyone think these are really needed ?!?
[and yes, I am tight, that's have i saved for my Evoque in the first place! Laughing ]

My first service (Stratstone Newcastle) invoice shows:

Carry out genuine first service required £85.97
(P) Filter - Oil £9.40
Pollen Filter FL2 £10.54
Gasket £1.52
Catrol Edge 5W30 C1 LOW SOOT £84.00 (6 Litres) (I am assuming the oil is infused with saffron and truffles for that cost)
(P) Filter Air £16.89

I also asked them to look for the causes of a few rattles and the invoice states that "fuel pipes were rattling, adjusted position of pipes"

Total cost on the invoice for the service was £208.32, (and didnt include any tax) The service was invoiced to Emac as they provide the service plan that I pay £30 per month for. I thought this was price was odd as I was told that the original cost of the service was £322 before i told them I paid into the plan?

Does this mean that Emac pay less to LR than we would pay "off-the-street"? Even when adding 20% Vat it still wouldnt come to anywhere near the £322?

On a lighter note I have ordered a drivers side brushed aluminium centre console part that I have caught with my seatbelt (£65 + Vat) and was told they would fit it for free when it arrives.

I'm sure the first service , any competent mechanic can comfortably carry out but I guess we re just in effect paying £280 for a stamp in the service log book! Expensive stamp!

When you consider that 5 Litres of Shell Helix Diesel Ultra AF-L 5W-30 (same C1 or WSS-M2C 934-B spec as the Castrol) is £50 delivered for a retail customer, you can see how much profit dealers make on the oil.

Emac will be getting a trade discount on any servicing.

I spoke to Lookers Park Royal yesterday and was quoted £389 but I'm going to push for a discount - seems a crazy amount for an oil and filter change!

Yeah I know...

I've had a couple more quotes. N1 Service - Authorised Service centre without a showroom - £335 and £384 from JLC who are the other authorised London Service Centre!!!

JLC breakdown shows they are charging £180+VAT in labour!!!!
Just got the parts prices from Yeovil Landrover who give us forum members 20% off.

Oil Filter - £9.17
Sump Gasket - £1.60
Pollen Filter - £10.28
Air filter - £16.48
C1 Oil - is £10.79 per Liter (they don't do 5L containers) so comes to £64.74

My usual contact Nick was out so I'll call him back tomorrow to confirm the discount goes for the oil too but if it does then that brings the parts bill to £102.27 before discount or £81.82 after discount. Plus the VAT comes to £98.18!

Even if the labour is the full £127.50+VAT quoted by N1 then that brings the price of the service to a much more fathomable £225!

I forgot to add shipping to the above parts which I think is usually £7!

There is a company called Guava down near Heathrow I believe who are authorised Land Rover service and over on the D3 and RRSport forums have a good name for fair prices and quality servicing but don't expect a loan car, they are independents and mostly they cannot afford to buy a fleet of loaners
