Regardless of whether or not there is a freebie offer on fuel ( I wasn't entitled to it being an early buyer anyway) I always ask the dealer to ensure the car has a full tank when it is handed over. A) because I'm often heading off from Lookers Park Royal direct to Scotland 475 miles away and b) the amount of fuel LR puts in the tank for delivery wouldn't be enough to get me from LPR to the nearest filling station which isn't far from them but means a trip up to Hanger Lane, waiting in the traffic jam there then driving back toward London to get to the slip road back into Dukes Road and the filling station! I think it is iniquitous that dealers don't include a full tank of fuel in the OTR price like they used to, you hardly notice that extra bit of cost but when the tank is almost empty as you pull out of the dealership in your new pride and joy it leaves an impression that the dealership hasn't really completed properly preparing the car for sale. I'm quite happy to pay not to have to search for a filling station within 5 minutes of driving away in a new car.
