It was a White 5 door Pure on an 11 plate, but the very strange thing was it didn't have ANY DRL's Perhaps a Pre Production vehicle thats escaped the Crusher!!! Doesn't the 11 plate indicate it was registered before customer deliveries began last September? I thought the first customer Evoques were on 61 plates? In any case, there's quite a few 11 plates running round Solihull and the area - I've presumed until now they're driven by LR employees and are pre-production vehicles. Andy RE: Saw Something Strange Today - Starflyer - 25-04-2012 08:07am I "get" or think I do about the 11 plates for 2011, but why are the 2012 plates called 61 plates? RE: Saw Something Strange Today - CrawfsEvoque - 25-04-2012 08:12am Plates change twice each year in the UK. So 2011 used 11 & 61. 2012 uses 12 & 62. 2013 uses 13 & 63 and so on. Hope that explains our over complicated registration process. Oh, and to complicate it more the changeover is 1st March and 1st September, if I remember correctly. RE: Saw Something Strange Today - XFullFatTim - 25-04-2012 09:24am And to add even more confusion to the number plate system we still have cars with 2 previous methods of issuing them on as well, and you can still have a new car registered on them as a so called Cherished or Personallised plate purchased from the Government Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency instead of taking one of the "free" current standard plates . I've been wondering about this for a long time now when someone mentions their plate. I assume you have "country" plates whereas here in the "colonies" we have state issued plates. One thing I like about your system at first blush is that it's possible to tell in a glance how old a vehicle is. However, I see that people in the UK are selling their "desirable" plates. Does that mean if I had a "keeper" on an '08, I could put it on a '12. Or buy an '08 from someone else and put it on a '12 or any other model/year that I wished? You can put a 'desirable' plate on a newer car, but you can not put a plate 'desirable' or not on an older car. So 08 plate can go on a car purchased 2008 onwards. You can't transfer that plate onto 2002 registered vehicle. RE: Saw Something Strange Today - XFullFatTim - 25-04-2012 06:46pm And in the new system the first two letters indicate where the car was first registered - so those starting S? or T? are Scottish, LR is a London registering office. I have a plate starting FA, which indicates that the car MIGHT come from Peterborough, a town in England but infact it doesn't as I purchased the Plate FA57 RRS for my Range Rover Sport online! Mine is SILRFOX (US). It came off my silver Ford Flex AND i'll admit to having silver hair. It's now on my green Evoque but I'm thinking of getting something else more RR'ish. |
