RE: Retrofitting of aftermarket towbar - XFullFatTim - 26-08-2012 09:39am Such a pity that Land Rover hasn't designed the same system as is factory fitted to RRS and Disco4 - a removable plate that hides the electrical sockets, a massive towing / recovery eye and the socket for the demountable tow hitch, it's so neat and tidy. One problem is so many people who have demounatable tow hooks leave them in place all the time and then when they want to remove them they are corroded in place and require some serious strong-arm and heat work to free. Retrofitting of aftermarket towbar - Stadt Panzer - 26-08-2012 09:56am Leaving a removable tow bar in place is an offence in Germany and will cost you a fine, don't see the difference myself but that's the law. Agree my D3 & D4 had removable bars fitted and they were just so neat and tidy, hiding behind that plastic plate. Don't fancy cutting mine at all! Westfalia alleged that it wouldn't need a cut, but I did my crawling under the car and I just cannot see how it could be fitted without a cut. However the cut is not visilble unless your under the car and as for myself I preferred a bigger - but unvisible - cut rather than e.g. the Witter with it's horizontal and fully visible attachment.... Each to their own I guess... RE: Retrofitting of aftermarket towbar - Dwp - 27-08-2012 07:11pm Just noticed that pfjones has the bosal detachable for sale, no price yet and doesn't say if a bumper cut is required. I've emailed them to ask. |
