RE: Is Satnav still a problem for the new Discovery? - J77 - 29-12-2014 11:22pm Yep, Friday 13th, it's got disaster writen all over it A lot of tech on the DS Tim, lane departure warning, autonomous braking (they've had problems with, but don't tell anyone ) pedestrian airbag, new infotainment system, various USBs, wifi and it goes on. RE: Is Satnav still a problem for the new Discovery? - speedbird - 30-12-2014 12:46am Yep but it's still fugly! Edit: IMHO of course... RE: Is Satnav still a problem for the new Discovery? - XFullFatTim - 30-12-2014 05:36am Evoque is supposed to have a "midlife" facelift for 2016MY so expect to see the new engines then - and doubtless even more problems loom over the horizon. RE: Is Satnav still a problem for the new Discovery? - MrNoo - 30-12-2014 06:11pm I suspect there is more than 1 reason the DS isn't getting the Ingenum from the outset including 1. It's a new engine coming out of a new factory so JLR will want to ramp up production in a controlled way. 2. The Jag XE is a totally new model from the ground up so it makes sense to put the Ingenum into it from the outset. 3. The Ingenum engine is mounted longtitudinally in the Jag whereas it'll be transversely mounted in the DS (and Evoque) so maybe additional development work is needed. 4. The DS shares many parts with the Freelander and Evoque both using the eD4/TD4/SD4 engine so little or no engineering is required to use the SD4 engine in the DS. 5. It simplifies production at Halewood if all models are using the same (diesel) engines. Then later both DS and Evoque will get the Ingenum engine, along with perhaps the Ingenum petrol engine. 6. JLR may still have contractual arrangements with Ford that requires them to take the eD4/TD4/SD4 engine so they need to fulfil this contractual commitment by fitting the "old" engine in the DS as well as Evoque. RE: Is Satnav still a problem for the new Discovery? - PhilSkill - 30-12-2014 06:14pm Could just be the DS is out before the engines are in production too... RE: Is Satnav still a problem for the new Discovery? - J77 - 30-12-2014 10:28pm I believe when Ford sold off LR, it was agreed they would use the current engine until 2015. |
