MINI Cooper S. Looking for something a bit more practical...and comfortable.

Based on the above posts it seems like Land Rover are going to see a fair bit of canibalisation of their product line.

LP that happens every time Land Rover introduces a new product (which isn't very often!), but they gain far more conquest sales than the sales they make to those who already have seen the light and already own a Land Rover/ Range Rover.

Yes. I see your point...and I'm sure they'll gain plenty of new customers.

I'd just assumed the Evoque would eat into freelander sales rather than the sales of existing Range Rovers.

I think most people looking at Freelander2 are looking for a bigger more practical car than an Evoque. Don't forget that Range Rover is no longer a model in the Land Rover stable, it's now a marque in it's own right - Range Rover is now the brand name of Land Rover's luxury cars, Land Rover is the brand for "utility" vehicles (although Freelanders and Disco4's are hardly utility cars, they are both available as Commercials whereas there are no factory Range Rover commercial vehicles although I do know of a FFRR Vogue SE Van and an RRS Supercharged light van, both in the Aberdeen area). I suspect that you will be hard pressed to find any green or black Land Rover oval badges on any of the 2012MY Range Rovers - they will all be badged Range Rover

At Geneva in the "just placed an order Lounge" I didn't meet anyone who had a LR product. 90% were Audi & BMW drivers – so job done for LR. Also upselling a FL2 customer to an Evoque has got to be good news for LR too they must be making loads more money on an Evoque than on a FL2

2010 VW Scirocco TDI in white - launch colour and looks awsome when clean, and 1986 audi quattro - (my toy)
Now the reason for putting deposit on Evoque -it looks are not disimilar to the Scirocco in Coupe format a little larger but still got that Starwars storm trooper look ,The sporty nature of the Evoque especially on the the ice test in Sweden (What Car Video ) with ESP switched off, is very reminiscent of my quattro drifting in the snow in various rallys from the 80's...
So basically two birds with one Car-

At least you will be used to the lack of rear vision that it looks like the Evoque will have, from the Scirooco!

Yep your right ..rear vision + scirocco = damage
especially when the dealer sticker takes up one third of the windoww ..lolExclamation
thats why they invented rear parking sensors and a screen to show you that your about to hit something- but the positive side is it makes you use the door mirrors alot more- which is a good thing I think.. much more aware of cyclists and motor cycles now..

Don't you believe that a reversing cam and senors are the answer - I put a crease in the upper tailgate of my big Range because the parking sensors and rear cam didn't pick up a tree branch sticking out end on into where I wanted to be................ you need a Volvo C30 tailgate to get a properly good view out of the back!

I've got five, but the youngest and my daily driver - the other four are on historic registration - is a 2001 406 Coupe V6 manual (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kermit/283183103/ ). It's a great GT car as per the true meaning of GT, ie Gran Tourer, but around town it annoys me now; ride comfort, ground clearance, length, fuel consumption.
