RE: Radio cutting out - Trapdoor - 29-08-2013 09:53am

Just driven for a couple of hours to a client site ... mine is also doing this. But I checked the time it did it, and for me, it was at 07:03, 07:33 and 08:03 ... which seems to be a bit weird.

Anyone else notice it is a regular timed thing?

Do we have any sort of response from JLR about this yet? I'd say it was (another) software glitch, and very much doubt that it has anything to do with sunspots - if it IS sunspots, then there is something mighty wrong with the way JLR have designed their electronics - they probably fail the EU EMC regulations big time.

Does it happen both when using DAB and FM or only on DAB, I would say if it is only on the DAB then it's a fault in the DAB signals which if they aren't perfect cause a similar effect, you either have DAB or you don't there's no fuzzy signal with it.

It happens on mine no matter what you are listening to, iPod, CD, stored CDs. Mine did it today 4 mins after turning on then a minute later so not every half hour.

Mine has just (today) started with the electrical short-type crackle described above. I rarely use the radio or sound system at all, but leave it tuned in with the volume off to monitor traffic alerts. This noise occurs with the volume fully off.

It's weird how people are only just experiencing this, or is it simply that this thread has encouraged people to mention it? Either way, it sounds unhealthy and clearly shouldn't be happening.

I'd certainly have noticed it if it had happened before. I'm uber fussy about my music quality and hate even when the DAB goes out of coverage for brief periods - and that is a totally different sort of noise. Car was fine on Saturday and Monday - and only used it again today.

This sounds just like a slightly corroded jack plug being plugged in/out of an amp (the crackle).

As I posted on the 'other place', a poll of type of car/audio fit etc would be useful to work out who has it, who doesn't and what sort of percentage is it likely to affect.

Really weird..... Exactly same thing started happening to my Evoque on Monday, and intermittently ever since. Doesn't matter what the audio source is..... Even happens when the radio is off!! (Just hear the loud crackle). I thought it was a loose connection somewhere - but surely we couldn't all have a loose connection starting at same time!!!!

How do we go about getting this looked at by LR?

Add me to this list mine is doing it too only noticed it on mp3's though and it only started this week. Today it did not restart playing after I restarted the car, had to cycle through the inputs to get it back on but it cut out about 4 times on my 4 mile journey back from the shop.

I'll add it to the list for the first service in October I think unless it gets much worse.

Mine has started doing this in the last couple of days too Crying Doesn't matter if the radio is on or off. Loud crackle through all the speakers, if the radio is on at the time, it cuts out for a few seconds after the crackle.

Car was serviced last week and there was an update applied to the stop start system.

My car also had that update last week and I noticed the speakers crackling all this week. Could be linked?
