Something for the weekend and sunny days - Stadt Panzer - 07-01-2013 09:01pm I have a Ninja 636 which I love, also means I can use it for work if the weathers not to bad. RE: Something for the weekend and sunny days - The Valeter - 07-01-2013 10:02pm Speak to your friend Alistair and ask his oppinion on a MG SV/SV-R. Very unique, rare & fun. Something for the weekend and sunny days - Filski - 08-01-2013 03:43am As hot as it is today (just topped 40'C), think I'd like aircon... I'm not having a midlife crisis, I'm too old for that, so a Porsche or a rag top BMW is off the list ( I dislike both marques anyway and won't be seen dead in either) so was thinking along the lines of a used Elise, VX2200, an MX5 - something small, cheap to run and won't exit stern first through the nearest hedgerow at the first suggestion of dampness on the road. I had my days of hair shirt monster powerful RWD 2 seaters many years ago when I had a very powerful TVR and got the need for a muscle car out of my system with that. I would even consider a hairdressers SLK. Top criteria are FUN and low cost, I don't want to do track days I just want something that I can enjoy hood down on some of the lovely driving roads and be able to cover up quickly when the weather returns to the UK normal. I don't want a soft top Land Rover thanks as the temptation to do silly offload things would be too gtreat and hood down off roading isn't that clever. Suggestions please. Al's Mustang engined RWD ZT is laying on a trailer well mangled after a small argument with the concrete barrier during a track day at Spa........... Fair point, there is/was an SV-R on Pistonheads in metallic red, it used to belong to my ex business partner. It is priced at £35K but I know they paid a lot less than that so could be worth a punt. It didn't get much use in the time I knew it (July 2006 to late 2009/early 2010). As said in another post MGTF is also a fun car, I've never owned on but only because there is 3 of us though I very nearly bought one of the very last MGR versions that was at SMC in Slough in the summer of 2006 I think. RE: Something for the weekend and sunny days - XFullFatTim - 09-01-2013 01:30pm Hadn't thought about the MG, used to own MG Maestro 2.0 and 2.0lTurbo, and one of the first MG Metros. The 2.0ltr Maestro was a very underrated car, could give a Golf Gti a fright just a pity about the interior! Something for the weekend and sunny days - muff - 09-01-2013 03:49pm Or, a Mercedes CLK convertible. I have owned one from new since 1999. You can pick then for nothing and the 55AMG V8 will certainly put a smile on your face roof down along a country road. RE: Something for the weekend and sunny days - XFullFatTim - 12-01-2013 05:07am Anybody any experience of the Honda CR-Z? RE: Something for the weekend and sunny days - Westy - 12-01-2013 12:08pm A very underrated car was the Honda S2000, great reliability, fast and rear wheel drive and there's a chance you can get a low mileage one with lots of history. Be aware the new CRZ is a hybrid, I believe the old one was good, particularly the one with the folding metal roof, VTEC engines are always a peach. You could try the wild card of a Westfield with a hyabusa engine, get. Get a nice conversion and you will have a really fun summer car, that platform offers amazing fun, even the ford or vauxhall powered ones are good value and offer lots of thrills |
