The pump is all you need for a puncture (which you get with the goo) that'll get you to a tyre place for a repair. If your tyre is shredded the last thing youll want to do is change to a spare yourself so you'll end up calling LR assist - if they can't fix they'll get you a replacement car while it's fixed... So I think the spare is a waste of what little boot space the Evoque has!

Well I guess its all subjective. Over the last 5 years I have had 4 punctures . I can change a wheel but would prefer not to (on any car). However , for me, I need / want to stay mobile and only have the one car in the household. So , if you dont have a spare tyre you have to hope that :

a) you can patch and pump up the tyre and the air will last ( or keep stopping to refill )
b) you can get to a tyre place at a time/location of your choosing ( not very good on a Sunday night / miles from home etc. )
c) if its a puncture that it can be repaired by the tyre place you go to. I went one time and they couldnt find the puncture - I had foolishly pulled the nail out . End result I had to drive around a week waiting for the hole to get bigger with daily addition of air to tyre.
d) if you have to get a new tyre , that the tyre place you choose has the replacement in stock and doesnt need to wait a day ( or two ) for supply.

At least with a space saver spare you can still drive around and leave the wheel to be sorted whilst still going about your own business .
Really we are talking about 120 pounds for peace of mind vs. extra luggage space in the vehicle . Each person has their own priority and needs to weigh it against any possible inconvenience.

I have the space saver tyre, but i've ordered a 5th style 7 shadow chrome rim and a new Continental tyre to just have sitting in the garage as reserve.

Is there a price for the wheel/tyres?

RE: Spare Tyres - benzina - 31-08-2012 03:11am

There doing the wheel for just over $1,000,and the tyre is $640. Not a cheap exercise, but the thought of having to use that skinny space saver for any extended time (sometimes these tyres are'nt immediately available) is too much of an embarressment to bear, plus i also just want a spare alloy.

Spare Tyres - Neo - 31-08-2012 05:51am

Wow for that price I can get a set of 4 new alloys inc tyres. Quite pricey IMHO

RE: Spare Tyres - benzina - 31-08-2012 06:57am

But only Style 7's will do for me. I'm seeing them as a work of art, which makes the price seem more reasonable Smile

Haha, I was thinking of trading my style 7s (all four) for some new alloys and tyres so if yr keen I can sell em to you?

You can have a set of four for the price of one

Thanks for the offer, but that would be to much art of the same thing, and dare i say it, obsessive compulsive.Very Happy

I have actually ordered it, and it's on it way.
