You shouldn't notice any difference (according to LR)! That is apart from the technician arriving in a bright yellow Transit or Trafic van rather than a silver Disco4.

We have used them once and it was a LR discovery man..great service and it turns out he lives 10 min from ours and he covers a huge chunk of the country. He told me at the time there were only 6 of him that over the whole country. The number was on the back of our tax disc sticker.

Boom! Fuse gone again and unable to open the filler flap. On this occasion I had the spare and it took about 15 minutes to replace once I had done all the contorting in the passenger footwell.
So twice is unfortunate but this could become irritating. What is the dealer going to be able to check if I now book it in to be looked at? Is it going to be a waste of my time or can they actually run some sort of meaningful diagnostic procedure?

It must have been unlocked as you were in the car changing the fuse

If the fuse is separate to the filler cap and it blows when the doors unlock, then the cap will stay locked but the doors will open as normal. You've probably got a sticky/faulty solenoid that pulls the lock on the cap, and the dealer should test this part... or just replace it, if it is regularly blowing the fuse.

The fuel filler flap has it's very own circuit!

Thanks for the steer. It's the second time it's happened in the last 4 weeks. Something is obviously amiss.

I wonder if it needs a squirt of WD40 then one of aerosol 3in1 to keep the pin moving easily?

Called them out on Sunday (at the Oxfordshire Golf Club & Spa) - took 1 1/2 hrs (but he was from Wolverhampton!, but was from LR in a disco)
Car wouldn't start - low battery and 'EBD' fault - everyhting checked and no fault found.
Gave the battery a 5 minute boost and hey presto - still working fine

You used to be able to extend the cover - I kept my Defender covered up to it's 12th birthday and only stopped the cover because the car has never broken down and needed roadside assistance so I felt I was wasting my money. It will be 18 years old in September and apart from one head lamp blowing and one flat battery it still has never needed any assistance to get home. All the big expensive damage I've done to it has never rendered it undrivable. - I even unknowingly drove it 80 odd miles with a transfer box that had left it's entire oil contents on a Scottish hillside........... It only gave up after I had arrived at the local specialists forecourt to get them to investigate why the performance seemed to be a bit off colour!
