AFAIK, it isn't a UK rule it's an EU reg.

Not sure about the EU but the US standard seems to be 126cm2 minimum

Am I the only one that finds it a bit sad that governments dictate car design nowadays?

If it's EU regs then why doesn't the new X3 or Q3 have similar size mirrors? Is it the width of the car that requires the Evoque size mirrors? If that's the case, then the new FFRR will have even bigger mirrors. Although having said all that, I don't actually find the Evoque mirror size an issue, but wish they would fold a bit closer to the car.

I initially thought that, but the maximum width of the car wouldn't get any less even if they folded further in, as other parts of the body are the same width as the current folded mirror width.

I believe it is something to do with the frontal area of the car, so width will be a factor. I agree it's a stupid rule but I don't find the current size obstructive or over large. A bigger problem for me is that this is the first Land Rover I have owned that I cannot see all the corners from the driver's seat - the price you pay for a sexy shape I suppose.

I actually like the large mirrors. I have never owned cars i can see the corners off so its not an issue to me.

Agree with this fully.
