RE: Temperamental Tailgate - scottie99 - 30-03-2012 11:43am Mine has the same problem. It now only closes on the buttom about 40% of the time. Dealer had it in , but of course it worked every time! I was interested in the advice to hold button in for 10 secs, but (assuming this was a time the button worked!), would the tailgate not close before the 10 secs? If your holding the hatch button in for 10 seconds the tailgate will not close. When you release the button after 10 seconds and press again, it will then close as normal and then just press again to re-open to the set opening height that you have selected, and this also sets the height opening memory.. RE: Temperamental Tailgate - Dimitrios - 30-03-2012 12:17pm I've got the same issue with it closing successfully around 60% of the time. I'll try the reset. If your tailgate only closes 40% of the time then your problem is not the button, it just needs the reset.. If your tailgate is open and you press the hatch button and it does not close, press again, and listen for the button contacts to operate (its a double click sound) if you can hear this then it's not a button failure, but a reset req'd.. I tried the above reset, and the tailgate closed the first 6 times, then back to square one! Ok, try this. set the opening height to 90% (to do this grab the internal handle to stop just before full opening) and then do the re-set again.. RE: Temperamental Tailgate - Donny Dog - 31-03-2012 06:03pm Mine occasionally refuses to close fully (although it beeps to alert you of this) when something is near to the leading edge of the boot, even though the hatch doesn't appear to have actually contacted anything. Has it got a concealed detector? RE: Temperamental Tailgate - XFullFatTim - 31-03-2012 07:40pm Donny, I think it has as when I the first time I loaded mine up the tailgate would almost close and then re-open. I have a suspicion that the two rubber wedge things on the tailgate that stop the parcel shelf from rattling may have something to do with it, even though they don't look like they are connected to anything RE: Temperamental Tailgate - Lone Rangerover - 13-12-2012 10:19pm (31-03-2012 07:40pm)XFullFatTim Wrote: Donny, I think it has as when I the first time I loaded mine up the tailgate would almost close and then re-open. I put it down manually, drove it home, and it worked again, and has been working since. Weird. If it happens again, maybe Ill try this reset technique |
