Wow, thank you all for taking pics. Puts my mind at rest. That aluminium bracket is odd; not sure what that could be for!
Presumably to protect the grey plastic box with the cables attached to it. It'll be the control box for some kind of optional gadget.

That tow rope is in case I ever have to tow a lesser car. If my Evoque needs towing anywhere, LRA will be doing it!
