Protection from seatbelt dings - Urban Splash - 02-07-2012 07:09pm

Hi all,

I have read on here regarding dents, dings scratches etc to the centre console trim from clicking in the seatbelt. My first time in my actual car, wasn't watching what I was doing and I hit the aluminium trim with the clip. My wife did the same in the passenger seat.

I appreciate all it takes is a bit of care, but, my solution.......

It's just the plastic sticky labels you use to protect your precious mountain bike frame....kool.

Great idea Splash, I have some larger sized strips of clear carbon Kevlar that is supplied by the makers of my windsurfer sails so will apply some of that, it s a similar thickness but is a roll about 50cm x 100 so I should be able to fit it without there being a visible edge

That will look really neat......

I think you can get packs of something similar from good auto-parts places (and Halfords!) called Ventureshield, it's meant for protection exterior panels from scratches and dings

They sell helicopter tape on ebay - about £6 or £7 for 1 metre but need to check what width is required

Thanks, great posts. Just ordered some helicopter tape (had never heard of it before). I was also at my dealer today and noticed that the new Evoque Dynamic in the showroom already had a new protective "film" finish over the aluminium centre console (a sort of dotted pattern layer). Looked good. Wish they had done so on earlier cars.
