Today - a first! - XFullFatTim - 26-03-2012 04:43pm

It's so sunny and warm here today that I HAD to park the car with the roof blind closed and the car was still like an oven when I got back to it! Laughing The climate control had it down to a tolerable temperature within 10 minutes though. Outside on my shaded drive the car thermometer is showing 27C, in my green house it is 47c and in my kitchen with window open and the back door open it is 26c

BTW this is Central Scotland, not the arid SE of England! - might even have to hose the car down tonight to get all the squashed flies off the front!
Yesterday was Scotland's hottest March day ever recorded, today is warmer and it's forecast to be like this for the whole week.................... so for Easter it'll be back to winter tyres and the ski resorts will be open again as we will have had our summer. And a plus, being March it's too early for the midges!

tim, Have you put your summer tyres and alloys back on yet?

RE: Today - a first! - XFullFatTim - 26-03-2012 08:17pm

No, there's still snow visible on the hills around here and while that is present there is still a good chance of frosts and a white Easter! Looking outside now I suspect we will have a ground frost tonight as there isn't a cloud in the sky.
I have run winter tyres in July before with no detrimental effect, in fact they were really good in wet.

I parked the car outside today and returned to the car and realised I had not closed the pano roof blind, it was really hot inside.

The air con works as it quickly came down to 20 deg C.

I will close the blind tomorrow!

It's on days like this I wish I had the convertible.

Yes but that would make it 2 out of the 7 days in the year when you could have the roof down! Must admit that today I did see a lot of soft tops driving in al fresco mode in Stirling.................... In the lay-by across the road from my house a bloke in a BM 3series this evening waiting for BMW Assist or the AA to come out to sort out his roof as it had got to halfway and jammed.............. lack of use?

RE: Today - a first! - J77 - 26-03-2012 10:14pm

To be honest soft tops have never really done it for me.

Owned one, a TVR and I found it a most unpleasant experience - truck and bus drivers used to spit into the car from their cabs when the top was down! This was in the early 1980's though when both soft tops and TVRs were rare things!

It was the lit fag ends tossed from cars that got me!
