Has anyone installed After market rear tv screens ? - fam1x - 21-10-2011 01:49pm Just wanted to know I anyone has installed after market rear tv screens in the headrests and tried to integrate with the front screen? Or are people just paying the £2300 for the screens in the back? Also curious if any with rear tv screens tried playing movies or avi files from USB stick to the screens? Thanks Fam Has anyone installed After market rear tv screens ? - SW6RR - 21-10-2011 01:53pm Pretty sure no-one has gone aftermarket. There are a few who have gone for the RSE (not many). The general consensus was that it would be much cheaper (not to mention much more technologically advanced) just to buy a couple of iPads for the rear passengers... RE: Has anyone installed After market rear tv screens ? - fam1x - 21-10-2011 02:05pm Yes your right i have got an ipad for the 4 yeras old but the 1 yera old cant use an ipad yet lol Not sure what you mean by RSE? Thanks for the reply Has anyone installed After market rear tv screens ? - SW6RR - 21-10-2011 02:10pm RSE = rear seat entertainment. RE: Has anyone installed After market rear tv screens ? - fam1x - 21-10-2011 03:22pm Spoke to the dealer today about RSE and he said you can install after market screens and they should work but not as good at the ones dealer is fitting Also you can play movies from USB to the screens, control is from the front. however i'm sure i saw a video where the back passangers had remote controls and could control everything look nice RE: Has anyone installed After market rear tv screens ? - XFullFatTim - 21-10-2011 03:23pm The one with rear seat remote controls is the factory fitted one IIRC RE: Has anyone installed After market rear tv screens ? - alibeau - 21-10-2011 03:37pm I have ordered the RSE on my Evoque as hubby had it on his old RRS and we had a lot of use out of it. He has just bought a new RRS which did not have RSE fitted but the dealer organised a guy they recommend to come in and fit a system into the car for around £1100 plus VAT IIRC..... The system has the two rear screens fitted into the headrests which you feed a DVD disc directly into the top of. There are some games installed on it too which we haven't looked at yet and both screens have wireless headphones. The screens can work independently or the same DVD can be watched on both. The system is not integrated with the front screen. HTH. Ali. RE: Has anyone installed After market rear tv screens ? - V8M3 - 21-10-2011 03:40pm I’ve gone for RSE on my build, in my opinion the intrusiveness of a retro fit is not worth the hassle and it all works seamlessly from the RRE head unit. Having said this, by the time I take delivery, my children whom this is for will have grown up and left home! I have also taken the darkened rear glass in relation to other posts, to ensure the screens perform in light conditions. RE: Has anyone installed After market rear tv screens ? - XFullFatTim - 21-10-2011 03:43pm I'm sure all dealers have a list of 3rd party companies that can provide things like this, of course the dealer adds a small "handling" fee for organising it but if you look in your local area's yellow pages under car audio you should find somebody that can do the same job. I would also recommend taking a look on the Disoc3.co.uk, FullFatRR.com, Freel2 and RRSport.co.uk forums because many members on those forums have wanted to do the same thing. There used to be a forum sponsor specialising in systems for all the modern Land Rover products. NP (the moderator on Freel2) had a system fitted to his Freelander RE: Has anyone installed After market rear tv screens ? - The Valeter - 21-10-2011 09:53pm I would really begrudge paying £2200 fo 2 headrests with screens plus a couple of headphones (they should give you the 2 originals in a box as well lol). The only real benefits with the factory RSE are as mentioned above no hastle of retro fit & the risc of damage to trim etc & most importantly if it the RSE goes wrong they have to fix it. How do you fair with warrantys etc with retro fit? |
