Hi all,

My first post! A new Evoque owner!

I currently bought a SD4 Evoque but when I went to insure it the VIN number indicated it was a TD4. How can I confirm I have a SD4 engine in my vehicle and my dealer is not playing tricks.

Is there an ID tag somewhere which will confirm the engine type as im certain the TD4 and SD4 look exactly the same from the engine bay.

Any help would be appreciated, cheers
Straight off 2 differences - only one tailpipe on UK TD4's and second the rear badging will show TD4 not SD4 or even ED4, infact check it isn't an ED4. BTW you could refuse the car as it appears it may have been mis-sold. SD4 is MUCH more desirable although the difference in performance is small, it's all in the tune set-up, same engine , same displacement, different tune, but significant difference in insurance! Ed4 has Td4 engine tune, but only front wheel drive. Cannot rmember now but TD4 in UK may also only have been available in Pure and not Prestige or Dynamic and it was never available in the UK as an automatic.
Thanks for the reply, we dont have the Ed4 in Aus.

Also there is no badging on Td4/Sd4 models which I have seen on some pics from this site which must be UK based.

Im looking for some sort of indication, maybe on the Engine number? Or is there a label somewhere to indicate it is a Sd4 engine.

I have a Pure tech so I believe Td4,Sd4 and Si4 are avialable
My SD4 (in Australia) also has twin tailpipes instead of TD4 single tailpipe.
In Australia there is no SD4/TD4 badging to differentiate.
Looking up your VIN on topix will show the cars manufacture record and if it's an SD4, but not sure if your saying that's what you've done.
In Australia there are no SD or TD or Si4 badges, the only visual difference that I can think of is the TD has the single tail pipe.

In Australia eD2, TD4 and SD4 and Si4 are available, currently, in all four models Pure, Pure Tech, Dynamic and Prestige, as per this page

Delks I would suggest you go to TOPIx (https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix...ookupForm) and use you VIN to look at the build sheet which will tell you what engine you have. If it says that ENGINE POWER SOURCE - 190/420 then its an SD4
Thanks Rob, ill do a quick check the no of tailpipes and take a look at Topix, is that a VIN search engine?
