Just had a read of another thread on trackers,

Just a thought....get a pay as you go sim pop it into a second hand iPhone, enable find my phone then hard wire it to a 12v port (one that turns of with the ignition)

I've parked my car before with my iPad 3G in the boot. When looking for the car later (unable to remember the name of the car park) I used my phone to see where it was.

I know this isn't the most practical solution but it would probably work out cheaper than a monthly subscription.

The phone could be hidden in a number of places.
A "lifetime" subscription to a tracker is "only" £350 - the lifetime is the length of time the car is in your ownership, it doesn't transfer to the next owner. Of course you also have to buy the transponder unit and get it fitted. I've just opted for the new LR In Control Secure monitored system and it is a very reasonable price considering the vehicle will be monitored 24/7/365
Just out of curiosity, what was the price, if you don't mind me asking
A Lot! For the In Control Security IIRC it is £500, but you cannot have the Security without the Emergency SOS/ Assistance Call for £750........
Or hide one of these in your car for $18

Only works over bluetooth so you'd probably be able to see your car before the app started working.
