The dealer was pushing for me to get this with my order... Is it just a scam to make there bonus? They charge nearly £500 for it but I herd you can get all the kits for less than £50
Are you talking about the clear film protection? Or the paint "sealant"? The former is a good investment but it's better done elsewhere(usually you can get better custom coverage and can be cheaper). The latter is a dud. They try to sell the fact that car paint is now water based and so is more affected by bird droppings, etc. Proper waxing would yield the same protection

My dealer rang me saturday and asked if i wanted this i said how much £600 i nearly dropped the phone.i would rather buy decent wax and polish and do the job myself.
Paint protection schemes have been discussed at length elsewhere in the forums and generally were considered a rip-off meant to line the dealer's pockets - £600 really is taking the mick. I have a paint protection scheme (Gard-X) and a year down the line have been very pleased with the results, however when I asked the local supplier (not a car dealership but a specialist valeters) they said that they would charge £180 to supply and apply the system for an Evoque, so I would say being asked to pay any more than that, then you are being seen off. Use it as a bargaining point instead of any discount - ie take as a freebie / incentive to buy the car
If you're really interested in protection then find a good local detailer (detailingworld.co.uk is a good source of info) and make sure they use good quality products.
The dealer applied products (all seem to have generic brand names like Super Guard, Supagard etc all seem to be a complete ripoff and charged at 2 to 3 times what a detailer would charge for proper products.
