Hey all. Ran into this issue last night. While driving the steering just got so heavy and the dash had the error indicating power steering assistance is reduced. I pulled over and shut off car then started back. power steering was back to normal for a mile or two, then same issue.

could it be just battery? i do get the 3 mim shutoff message a lot when starting the car. i don't think any mechanical failure since the car steers without issue for a while when restarted.

also tried to look for power steering fluid location, can't find it. manual doesn't say where as well. is it because it is electronic power steering assist?

can anyone chime in. thanks
Are you still on the OEM battery? Might be time for a new one if the weather is also starting to get a bit cooler too

Thanks. I thought that too and replaced battery last night. We were able to drive it today to six flags and almost back..... issue occurred again close to home. secondary battery has not been replaced, just the primary battery. But the secondary battery is just for start/stop only right?

Any other possible causes? I don't think it's mechanical since if you turn engine off and on it works again a mile or so before warning pops up again.

Google so far hasn't been helpful as well. Found one thread about it but OP never mentioned what LR fixed.
Yes the 2nd battery is just for the stop start system - I think you might have to take it into the dealership or to a non-franchised Land Rover independant/specialist.

Thanks bro. Will take it to my mechanic. This car i starting to be a money pit. turbo went out as well. I had it replaced with aftermarket and no luck, will need to fork a different one. Then now this, ughh....

I have the OBD from iLand, will check what error codes show up tomorrow.
DTC code is B100D-67 Column lock authorization, state permanent. It's under BCM.
Hey guys. Just an update. Ended up having RayCatena Land Rover work on it. Replaced Steering Gear Assembly. 6k work done, but car is fixed......

Now on a side note, are the aftermarket turbo assembly found in ebay/amazon any good? Turbo also failed already (check engine light). I replaced it with aftermarket (amazon) but got those with small hoses. My mechanic said the oem didn't have any. We tried plugging the hoses but no good.

Now there are aftermarket for around 600 in ebay without hoses. But not sure if it's worth it. Anyone switched to aftermarket turbo after original failed?
