It's impossible to start 'er up, exit the car and lock the doors! It just honks at me about the key not in car/engine running.
How do you do this?
You can even hit the lock button inside the door when the door is open!

I’ve not tried this but I guess you could start the car then lower the window down. Exit the vehicle and lock the car through the open window. Then one touch the window up and the car will be locked. Just make sure you have your key on you and not left in the car...
I'm in Canada... Can't close the windows with the key fob... Only open them!

Oh, you mean close the window thru the open window? Good idea!

I wonder, if it doesn't sense the key inside and it's out of range outside, maybe it'll automatically lock the doors?

Is it the engine or the cabin that you want to pre-warm? The cabin heater is actually electric, running on a PTC system and not warmed by engine heat at all, also heated seats and steering wheel are really good at keeping you warm. Also in Canada I thought you could get aftermarket engine block heaters as it gets so cold in winter
I thought the PTC heater was only to provide some warmth until the engine water temperature got hot enough to chuck out heat via the heater. Are you saying they don’t use hot water from the engine to run the heater Tim?
In auto climate control, it's really low output until the engine warms up...
The electric heat you mention I think, is just when you enable Max defrost. Seems warm air comes out right away then.

My topix list says something called "fresh air heater"...?
