Can’t shift out of Park with engine running

2014 Evoque petrol - sudden loss of shift capability out of Park. Engine starts and stops ok. Shift knob rises out of console normally. Can’t rotate to D or any other position. Fix: stop/start eco battery shorted. Short caused gear selector module to die. Dealer changed battery and installed new gear selector. $1700 USD repair and all ok. Mileage on car 146,200 miles. Other than this, no issues with the car.
