replacing non heated windshiled with heated one ?

anyone has done this and got it working (heating) ?
I have windshiled replaced and the guys in the garage installed heated windshield, even the original glass was non heated. they just saw the wires are there so they put it on ...
and now what

activated by independent service in car config file, not a big job, just changed the option to heated windshiled. now it works once max button pressed (together with rear glass). nice.
bluetooth handsfree activedated too (does not come as a standard with 5" LCD radio), no other mods needed (even the phone buttons on the steering wheel are missing) the phone is controlled by radio buttons.
