removing engine cover - how to?

Hello everyone,

So I was changing a headlamp bulb and in my wisdom a was using a very small screwdriver (3 inches) to pry the release of the bulb connector - I dropped the dam thing inside the compartment and it didn't come out of the bottom of the car? it has gone into the abyss of the engine compartment - I've been hunting this sucker all night and no trace of it? can't see it anywhere? where could it be?

I wanted to remove the plastic engine cover to get more light and see if I can spot it but am I am stomped on the plastic cover? I don't see any freaking bolts? Help - how do you do remove the plastic cover?

If you mean the cover over the top, they normally just pull off, but I have to say I've never removed my Evoque one, so cant be sure!

They're the same as the Freelanders. As already said, just pull it off - they have rubber grommets that fit on ball/posts on the engine. Just line them up and push them back on. Really easy.

Thank you - I was afraid of breaking something as I tried that and it seemed pretty solid. I will pull more aggressively now -

Not so easy if the rubber is dry, you have to use considerable force

That did it - just pull hard and it came off

side note - gave me the room to get more light and found that silly screwdriver in a ledge! - mission accomplished.
