Im not sure if you are like me? It seems one of the biggest issues with the USA cars is getting the DRLs to work correctly and a lot of work seems to be done to get this happening.

However, all I am looking to achieve is to get the main HID bulb working. I have no issues with the DRLs, I just want the main bulbs to work. They currently flash on and then go off.

Its amazing that with world wide following on this site, no-one has posted how they achieved it......

Believe me, the day I can get it sorted as a plug and play solution, I will tell the world how it is done.....

kuga- drews have developed this system of xenon conversion with probably a lot of knowledge and expense.
so there is know way they will spill the beans, unless they do the conversion.
I have checked out their web site, you would have to forward your halogen lights to drews. they will return them
ready to plug and play. what puts me off doing it is the overall cost.

2013 auto sicillian yellow special edition. with all the goodies supplied with this model.

Understood mate....

However, with forum support, Ive done hundreds of modifications to all different marques of vehicle over the years and it seems that RRE owners are the least able to communicate their mods.

Perhaps its due to the RRE being a more premium product and the types who own them are less willing to get their hands oily?
I understand that Drews will not wish (quite rightly) to give away their secrets, but I would have thought those who have achieved this mod would be more open about what they did!

I agree, some of the whiz kids surely have sorted this out, but not spreading the gospel.

Just to provide some balance to this thread following events of the past couple of days.

Ive been in communication with Drew at Drews Garage to try and get more detail on how this conversion is done and what options are available.

All I can say is wow.....Drew is a sound guy. The guy knows his subject inside out and has been amazingly helpful in clarifying the issues these lights present and how complex they can be to sort out.

There are numerous variants of the HID lamp units and all need individual fettling to get the desired results for the vehicle owner. Drew is having to open up the units to sort out the circuitry and thus give a fully enclosed and pretty much OEM solution which has to be tailored to each unit.

He has explained to me what I will need to do to get the modification fully enclosed within the headlamp. Its very complex and a LOT of work. I have to say, its well above my middling abilities and can only suggest that unless you know what you are doing, you leave this to the experts.

He also went over the less OEM options that are more within the scope of my skill set. It seems like the options we have are pretty much as listed on here.....HID bulb and ballast replacement (canbus), the fitting of a relay with a permanent live from the battery, or finally, replacement of the HID bulb with halogen (still gives me signature lights).

So there you have it......the less OEM options are pretty much as discussed on the forums. If you want fully enclosed OEM solution, you are going to have to go to a specialist who knows his stuff and can open up the lights, design, build and fit the necessary circuits to make everything work as it should.

I can now see why Drew hasn't engaged the forums with the details of how he as achieved such good results:

1. Its massively complex and he would spend hours working on individual solutions for each user - not viable when he has a business to run. - would you do it for nothing?

2. He has spent a lot of time figuring out how to get these lights working as OEM and in the same vein as big companies which don't give away the secret ingredients that made them successful, I can understand why he wouldn't be keen to give everything up to the forums for no real gain.

Just to reiterate, Drew is a genuinely helpful and very intelligent guy who appears more than willing to help out users who are having minor issues. However, for full modifications to get these lights working as OEM, you will need to pay for his skills and have the work done properly. I believe he charges around $225 to get each light sorted out......considering the amount of work and time invested in tailoring a solution for each one, Id say its a pretty good deal.

I have no objection to the price Drew's Garage is asking and as I mentioned it's fair to protect your trade and not give away your secrets.
Unfortunately they are 4000 miles away from most of us and that's the problem.

There is a dealer not far away from my place who is able to converts most cars to xenons in accordance with legal requirements, including power wash and load compensation unit.

My halogen lights are good anough for my purposes, especially with the GP Thunder bulbs. Further I 'm in the fortunate situation to avoid driving at night, but as I got the xenon units I would,in case of, be interested to convert them to halogen with the signature lights.
As the dim control works the same way as the xenons this should not be that difficult.

yep im afraid they are expensive, hence im not going for them. maybe some company will develop an easy cheaper method to retro
fitting xenons to our pure evos.

Resurrecting this thread in case some are still monitoring
Using oem Xenons would something like this get around the can bus problem by inserting between the oem ballast and harness?
Or is it current draw that triggers a failure?
