RE: Xenon Headlights

Hi mate -

The MORIMOTO harness above says not for use on cars fitted with DRLs!

RE: Xenon Headlights

Thanks again polkrs.

Im wondering....do I actually need to go down the route which gives a permanent live and powers a relay, or would an in line resistor work? It would certainly be easier!!

I guess the issue is - does the car turn the main lights off because of too little current draw, or because of too much??

I inspected inside the headlight, and ECU is an exposed circuit board with many cables to separate LED strips. Drew can get the job done within the headlight unit. Or if you dont mind to have the module on the outside, you could look into this DRL kit for exclusive use of LANDROVER EVOQUE

@Kugaman1 - I would recommend using this unit CAN-BUS: MORIMOTO STANDALONE

Btw, anyone worked with the AFS? Im in search of a AFS control module

The rakuten kit looks like aftermarket trash. Drew's garage did not use aftermarket parts in mine. Now he can use all OE headlight bulbs and ballasts (in addition to DRL's) with no can adapters either. Its all stock parts and "plug and play" in mine.

RE: Xenon Headlights

To address this adapter that people are calling us over:
The Control kit on Rakuten looks very interesting but is still aftermarket which means reliance on aftermarket electronics that may be may be bad, buggy, or leave you with no lamps when you needed them. We have no experiance with that product. If it proves to be fair and owners liked it, then it could be a viable alternative to stock/OE Rover componentry.

Has anyone used this box yet?

Im guessing its best to check other types of cars and/or other range rovers (if you cant find enough info) and see how they solved their HID problem. Im gonna guess again (like I said, never experienced in this situation) that the car relay or controller is cutting off because of abnormal noise or amperage at sudden start of the lights

OK, thanks again.

Im close to getting this working, just been too busy to investigate further over the past weeks.....

Id love to know how Drews garage get over the initial turning on then straight off issue!

Like I say, the DRLs work fine, I just cant tet the main light to work.....

Do the people in DREW"s Garage know where EUROPE is !!!!! and most people interested in the conversion are.... IN EUROPE
in so far the confidential / secret !!! responses are of no great use....

I cam fully understand that you don't want to undermine your buisiness.... but most of us are a fair 4000 miles and a huge trade barrier away from you.

Most of our inquiries come from within the USA.
