Do you have a dual view tv screen?
If you do then it's the wireless headphone transmitter.

Pretty ugly and looks like a 'bolt on afterthought' to me. I've had the same ... and one person even commented "why did you stick your sunglasses case to the roof?"!!!

I think it's mounted there and is so large is that if you have the rear entertainment system, it also serves the IR for the rear headphones too.

It only serves the White fire IR headphones - you don't need to have dual view to have this as the headphones work with any of the audio/ video systems

Not a good design at all
