RE: What is the Evoque competing against?

1.Audi TTS, Fiat 500 & Golf GT DSG.... the RRE sort of replaces all 3, Mercdes SL500, 911 C4S

2. Really only Audi A5 Sportsback .. had to be the 3.0 diesel to avoid the ghastly CVT auto in the 2.0

3. Fantastic looks, feel-good factor, wonderful smell, look & feel of the interior, 4x4 capability, small(ish) size, manageable running cost, nothing else looks as special. A5 is nicely proportioned but very common and in reality looks like an A4 (or any other Audi for that matter) that together with £47K for the spec of my Prestige (and no surround carmeras!) and it was really no contest.

SD4 Prestige Sport Auto 5 Door, Sumatra Black with Ambience interior, Magneride AD, 20" Style 6 Wheels, Panoramic Roof, Surround Cameras, Electric Tailgate, ADRVM.......& Heated Steering Wheel......Gorgeous

1. Mazda 6 Sport, Toyota Celica, Honda Accord
2. Volvo XC60, Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4/Celica, Mazda CX-7, Subaru Forester, Kia Sportage, Ford Kuga, VW Touareg, Audi A6, Q's
3. Style, quality, luxury, uniqueness, all round ability and not front wheel drive with sporty wheels for snow, back to British!

I went round every dealer but nothing won on all fronts but the RRE! even the Volvo spec'ed up is much the same price (although deals available) and no comparison on style.

RE: What is the Evoque competing against?

1. X5, X5 and X5! I had a 3 series 3.0d sport before that.
2. None.
3. I wanted something a bit smaller than the X5 but still a 4X4 from a quality brand - the minute I saw the Evoque my decision was made.

Ali.

RE: What is the Evoque competing against?

Dipping in for my first post!

1. Renault Scenic (current family bus); cliosport 182 FF (still current);Pug 106 GTI (we miss it terribly!)
2. Another Renault Scenic (it is still one of the few cars with 3 independent removeable rears seats); Skoda Yeti (possibly to become a cult Motor); X3 a step up in class?
3. Wife thought the beamer was too big and didn't want to drive it. I was irritated when the dealer wouldn't bust a gut to fund me a manual to try. Access to the rear wasn't fantastic and you'd have to be a stick to use the middle of the bench seat! The roads round here have shaken my French cars to bits so once I had committed to the step up there could be no other choice!

As my wife hasn't yet protested the expense I'm going with it!

Still it'll be back to the Yeti if the build/delivery date starts to slip from January. Haven't pressed the dealer yet. He has the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

The forum has to be my connection with my purchase until at least then!

RE: What is the Evoque competing against?

1. Mercedes-Benz 300CE-24, Subaru Forester, Lancia Beta Coupe.
2. No competition after Q3 revealed it's very blandness, and the Porsche Cajun is yet to be born.
3. A magnificent balance of classically beautiful clean strong design, the quality and design of the interior, the compact size, practicality, reasonable running costs, and the all-terrain capability, which includes the freedom of knowing i can jump kerbs to escape the herd, should the need arise.

RE: What is the Evoque competing against?

1. What car are you moving from and what are your previous three cars?
(daily drivers)
MBZ C36 AMG
MBZ C350
Range Rover Sport Supercharged

2. What other cars made it onto the shortlist when buying the Evoque?

2012 MBZ C63 amg coupe
2012 Audi RS5
2012 Nissan GT-R

3. Why did you choose the Evoque?

We have enough fast sports cars to play around with so there was no need for one to daily drive.
Also, the evoque dynamic is sporty, sexy and very practical for our harsh winters!

RE: What is the Evoque competing against?

Nice to see that a lot of people are 'downgrading' to the Evoque, whilst similar number 'upgrading'.

As top gear said a car that admirable, and almost attainable for many people. Not many mange that.
