We have lift off!

Got an unexpected call today. Was apparently next in the dealer's pecking order and the person above me has cancelled! Somewhat strange as their order was in and today was the last day for submission of changes.

Fortunately no such doubts for me. So my order has gone in its place!

It's designated as accepted and with a build date indicated to be around 1st week January there is a chance it will be with me before January is out!

Ordered it in launch week back in September

Good news, you will have waited less than most i think especially from your original order time/date September

Fingers are now crossed. We're not over the line yet!

As it only came onto the radar once the car was launched I haven't had the stress of waiting even to test drive like some! And had I gone for the X3 back in March that would have been a 10 month wait. So am hopefully better off having had a very lucky escape

Judging by your location....it would seem that we have ordered our cars at the same place....

Would I be right in saying that there is a nice country lane..and a pub on the corner?

By my reckoning there's two pubs, both on corners, crossroads really, plus third nearby not to mention there is the Common and just to be sure there is a xxx Dealership opposite one of the pubs.

As for the nice country lane, the one I went down on my test drive was a bit of a squeeze. Came back with a bit of the countryside as a souvenir. Cleared it off before I arrived back in the yard. Just wanted to get a feel for how wide the car is when I passed white van man on a single track!

Went into the dealer today on my way to top up on my stock of rocksalt! will be needing it.

When I last spoke to them on 3rd January they gave me a build date of 2nd Feb. Here we are, Feb 4, and do you know what......in build it is!

It took them a bit of fumbling around to confirm. Am currently feeling a bit underwhelmed by it all, especially now the snow cometh and I'll still not have the benefit.

Am sure the feeling will pass.......

Hence, my desire to get a Dynamic this week. As we live in a hilly area.

Yes the irony of the snow arriving a week or so early! Still, it's my first 4x4 so a few weeks familiarisation with it would be sensible.

Got a note through this morning with an update.

It's great news!

The car is on route from the factory!

I'm almost excited.

Certainly provides some welcome relief from the only other major story of the day in this country!

Nearly sent out the distress call to see if any body had seen a lost car transporter!

But no, I got a message this evening to confirm the car has arrived at the dealer.

The end of the wait is finally in sight.

If I pick up late next week, that will be 5 months from date of order (17/9), 2 months from date order taken from pool (12/12), 8 days from start of build to dealer delivery (2/2), and a month or so later than originally suggested/anticipated by the dealer.

Should I go take a peek tomorrow?
