Washing your Evoque

May sound a daft question, but what does everyone use to wash their car...not the solution. Do you use a sponge, specific cloth or even and old rag!! Also do you use a chamois (sp) leather?

Just want to avoid swirls!!

Thanks

Arrived 16th December 2011: 5 door Prestige SD4 auto in Barolo black with ambience interior, pano roof, privacy and 20" style 6 alloys.Very Happy

On iPhone so struggling with link but there's
A lot of good info on the Detailing section
On here. Lots recommend the 2 bucket method
Which I heard of through here怂One with water and soap or
Cleaner and the other to rinse the dirty sponge
Chamois etc.

RE: Washing your Evoque

use a decent shampoo not a wash and wax, use a wash mit not a sponge, dry it with micro fibre clothes not a chamois and use a good wax like swissvax and not a cheap polish from halfords and you want too clay bar it before waxing.

RE: Washing your Evoque

See the detailing thread for indepth methods

But there's a whole world out there, so my preferred method is

Rinse first with jet from hose, or jetwash to remove large debris. (with snow foam if you're really keen)

Wash wheels first. Replace water

Microfibre Noodle Mitt is great for the hand wash

2 buckets, 1 with shampoo, 1 to rinse it after each applilcation of mitt to car.

Microfibre Drying towel to dry off and avoid water marks.

Then a wax or quick detailer for a sparkling finish.

RE: Washing your Evoque

Only tip to add to the above, is not to use jet on a dry and dirty car, as it can force grit to move along the paint work. Use a watering can first to gently rinse the car, it lifts the dirt up, once done this you use a strong hose to rinse, and then go to two bucket method, and again rinse with a watering can. before drying with microfibre. Clay and then wax.

Microfiber cloth
Maguires gold class shampoo
Autoglym chamois
Maguires gold class carnuba wax
Turtle wax glass cleaner

I've got loads of car cleaning products in the shed think it's a bit of a OCD, but these are my top ones at the moment.
