RE: Upgraded To Signature Xenon Lights (from Halogen)

Hello again.

So the options for me seem to be:

1) Buy some OEM second hand Xenon headlights (AFS) (Tick VG off eBay)

2) Fit them - AFS won't work BUT Sig DRL and Xenons will as long as RR dealer is happy to switch the software over from Halogens to Xenon (DRL will already be activated as I have them on my Pure Plus (2014)

OR

2a) Buy the diagnostic tool for £299 and do it myself.........seems that the dealer whom I bought my car off is the best (free???) option.

3) Fit an aftermarket Xenon conversion Kit..............will that give me high low beam - surely there is only 1 bulb in a HID conversion - the Halogen has 2 filaments so I am not sure what happens in this case with dip / main beam (Information regarding single bulb/filaments came after speaking to a Halogen to HID conversion kit (HB3) seller)

can anyone tell me what the different two letters after the part number on the headlight unit means (GE, AC, etc) is it a market sticker or country / zone?

I am just trying to make the best decision - Clearly I would prefer the OEM light change version.

OR

4) Has anyone got a pair (LHS & RHS pre 2015) for sale after a vehicle upgrade perhaps, that they have collecting dust in the garage. UK only please.

RE: Upgraded To Signature Xenon Lights (from Halogen)

Today I collected a pair of Signature LED HID Xenon AFS Headlamps, UK/RHD.

The part numbers are RH HID AFS UK / BJ32-13W029-GB (RHS)
and LH HID AFS UK / BJ32-13W030-GB (LHS)

Both are from the same vehicle and are date stamped at manufacture 05.03.2011.

The AFS looks like it has self centred the bulbs on switch off,(maybe) however I have yet to connect them up to try them, this I will do and post the results.

It does still have manual adjusters for beam direction so this might be a player.

I won't fit them if they don't work correctly, but will book into Landrover dealer to see if they can change the software in the vehicle database to xenons (Its been built with halogens so I ASSume its set to "halogen")

If it does not work I will consider options as I like the signature LED over my current "square bulby" type ones. - maybe swop out the internals or bulb if it will fit without too much "bodgery" to a xenon 35W kit - let you all know................

Hey if anyone is looking for the headlights let me. I still have the ones I purchased and I never got the chance to work on this. It's just taking too much space in my room and really have no time to change my headlight.

Let me know if anyone wants it. I'm in NJ.

Just to update the thread, don't try to use same procedure to upgrade from halogen to DRL xenons with MY2016 headlights on previous models of the car.

LED lights won't work, you need to open the headlight, replace the LED lights themselves and re-wire completely the plug to have headlight working.

After this procedure you will have headlight working but with LED lights not changing intensity as with standard MY2015 and previous lights.

Hope to have been of service to you

You understood correctly, opening the headlight means exactly cutting it open to remove the original led strip to fit inside a new one with same specifications to be rewired to the plug.

It is necessary to be very careful when you seal the headlight after the modification to avoid moisture to get inside.

Furthermore you need to find on the old plug of the car the pins which are related to mean beam, high beam and turn signals to move them to match the related pins on the MY2016 headlight.

A friend of mine did it and it works, I don't have 100% detailed explanation sorry, but main issues are the ones described above.

Hi faxerpelle, can you get anymore detail on his conversion. I have been trying to facelift a car. I've gone from pre facelift xenon to facelift xenon so thought it would be easy. Swopping 2 wires got everything working bar the led strips. On the pre facelift model the led strip has a 2 feeds but on the facelift only one. Can you elaborate on what and how he did it.

The led strip needs to be replaced with a non original one with same power/size/dimensions and to be fitted in the area where the OEM one is normally.

Then you pull wire/wires of the new led strip out the headlight adding a pin or wire/wires somewhere in the plug to have them working.

As said before you lose the "double intensity" feature when you switch on direction light or mean light. The led strip won't dim, it's only working on or off.

That's all my friend explained me since neither me nor him are specialists in that job. Guess if you ask a workshop guy operating on electrical connections of cars he knows exactly how to do that.

This is the result:

I think I'm going to try getting a pair of used xenon lights and get the GAP IID tool. If it doesn't work then get some 35w CANBUS HIDs.

RE: Upgraded To Signature Xenon Lights (from Halogen)

anyone make the drl be 100% brightness

ive had these for a year now. 14 evoque with halogen lights, put in hid lights from eu evoque. No wiring no nothing, all is well everything works excepT NO DRL if you want signature lights you need to be in parking light mode and they are dim. Headlight work perfect as stock so do bi xenon beam no flash or turn off for me using all stock range rover stuff
