Tire size

Hi folks
Been doing lots of reading but 1st time posting...
Last week I got a really nice 5 doors silver Evoque and I'm looking to get her some aftermarket 20" wheels in black gloss. The car is currently with stock 19". The tires I was looking at and got a good price for are 245-50-20 Pirelli Scorpion, but everywhere I look it seems to say that I should be getting 245-45
Will it make a huge difference if I get 245-50 instead? Will I see or feel any major differences when driving with 245-50 vs 245-45? How off will my speedometer be?
Can any of you that went with 245-50 give me your opinions please?!?

Your set up looks really good.
But with the super bad roads we have here I'm not going for 22s
Staying with 20s even if I know it will not fill those arches.

I'm still trying to find out if 245-50-20 will work
Do you have any idea?

Moreno, the speedo error would not to great with 245-50-20 (100kph = 103kph), but the clearance from the front spring mount would be tighter, and might be an issue.
FYI....I have 255-45-20, and works well.

Has anyone tried 265/45R20 Pirelli's Scorpion Verde All Season Plus? They have a 65,000 mile warranty and am wondering if they'll fit my 20" shadow Chrome Wheels without any tweaking with spacers...and without messing up the speedometer. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There will be minimal speedo error, but the 265 width on the 8 inch rim is not recommended.

Thank you. I appreciate your expertise. I think I'll go no larger than a 255/45R20 then. Will I be okay on an 8" rim with that width? Do you have a favorite tire brand? I was looking at the Pirelli's

While I have your ear, do you think the added 1/4 " inch sidewall with the 255's will make for a stiffer ride?

Benzina, I just read that you have 255/45R20's on your 8" rims...sorry I missed that before. Which tire/style did you select...and have they performed well for you? Thanks again for your feedback.

RREvoquer1, i have always used the 255/45r20's since new, and they have been great. On an 8" rim like ours, its absolutely no problem as its only 10mm wider then standard, and the overall circumference is also very close to standard too, so minimal to virtually no speedo error, when averaging and comparing all standard Evoque wheel/tyre sizes.
I have always used the Continental Cross Contact UHP, and again, i have found them to be great performers in every way....quiet,great grip in wet and dry,and very good wear factor.

I love the look of the Continental Cross Contact UHP...they look like they have a bit more muscle....good looking tire. I appreciate all your input. Have a great weekend!

No problem at all. Yep i too prefer the look of the Conti's as they are in fact more muscular looking then the others, due to a squarer shoulder making them look wider, and also aggressive tread pattern. Have a good hey....cheers
