TOWBAR GUIDE as at 27/08/12 (already on version 2!)

I know lots of people are asking lots of questions about towbars; not just how to fit them, but how do they look, how much bumper do I have to cut etc etc. Well I have now produced a guide of what is on the market at the moment, which is attached below. I make no apolgies this is Europe focused as this is what I am knowledgeable about! That said please send me details of other markets and I will happily include so that we end up with a useful wiki type document!

If you know of a towbar that I haven't listed then PM me and I will ammend; similarly, if you can take a couple of photos (really need some good ones of the JLR/Thule bar to show the size of that cut!!) and e-mail them to me then I will update the document so that all forum members can see the results and help inform peoples choice for those who haven't yet purchased.

Note, I have not listed prices as RRP bears no relation to e-bay prices or non-UK prices!

I want to fit a tow bar to my Evoque and like the look of the Westfalia vertical detachable but wanted to know if anyone has the tow-trust vertical detachable fitted?

The Tow-Trust system looks to support the full 150kg max nose weight as opposed to the 100kg max of the Wetsfalia one.

If anyone has the TowTrust one could they post some pics/ give some feedback on it. If it is also invisible when fitted this might be the one I go for.

Nice one A tow bar is on the list at some point as I want to fit a bike rack. I'm having problems finding a single I've rack at the mo though Great post!

Yes I want to fit a bike rack as well, was considering the Thule G6 range with the LED lights but i have read that LED trailer lights are not supported on the Evoque electrics.

Just want a single bike rack if poss but to fit on a tow bar. I do like the look of the detachable version i must say. Will have to look and find someone in Gloucester who can supply and fit one.

This company as fitted a detachable as shown in their gallery to an Evoque. I've asked for a quote

Best price so far for me is £450 for a witter detachable with single electrics.Dealers wanted £995

Found a mobile fitting company and they have quoted me the following:

To supply and fit a Thule detachable swan neck towbar with 13 pin dedicated electrics to a Range Rover Evoque would be £455.00 + vat @ 20% = £546.00 inc mobile fitting.

To supply a Thule Th9502 Ride on Bike rack would be £128.33 + vat @20% = £154.00 inc.

As long at the goods are in UK stock we can arrange fitting for next week.
