Steering problem update

Picked up my 2012 pure premium (may prod.) just a few weeks ago. The second day I drove it on the highway and it was noticeably pulling to the left. My arm got tired after a bit from not being able to just relax and keep the car on track. It was definitely more than fighting the curve of the road... Something was off. Steering wheel was also pointing more towards 11-o'clock, so thought it might be alignment.

Brought car in, they did alignment. They must not have test drove because there was still an issues. Only thing solved was the steering wheel is straighter now.

Went back in for service. This time they thought it might be the tires. They moved them to opposite sides. Picked the car up, no good!

Came back the next day and went for a test drive with a Tech to prove I wasn't crazy. Then I took another '12 they had on the lot. It drove great! Effortless steering, much more enjoyable.

So we tried again a week later. At first they tried swapping rims and tires from another car on the lot. no difference. Then they called in LR tech and they suggested it was a jammed break caliper that could be pulling on one of the rotors. So they replaced the drivers side rotors (I'm in the US). They said it would be test drove and all. Picked it up at end of day, my guess they rushed to leave and didn't really drive it.

Took it up on the highway for a stretch, still a problem!!!

Tomorrow is a holiday, but they will get a call first thing on Friday. Starting to feel like an ass but its definitely not fixed. I might suggest the steering rack issue, but frankly...getting close to asking for another car altogether....

Have they checked for damage to the front and rear suspension. I presume you are the second owner with it being built in May. Maybe it hit a pot hole and bent something

Not sure if they looked into suspension or control arms though -I- would have done that if I were them. Could have been bent in shipping.

Got the car new. Just one of the 2012s on the lot that they hadn't sold yet. I mentioned the date as most of the '12s shipped over with May manufacture dates.

Most people in the states don't order a car to be built, would take way too long.

Has anyone experienced this steering issue with a 2014/2015 Evoque?

I bought my wife an evoque in december of last year (2014), she has now experienced the same issue, we are in Indonesia and it came from a showroom which was not a specialist LR dealership. Unfortunately there is little LR support here. Its back at the dealership now and he wants $6000 to fix it and says it has happened because she drove it in floods (unbelievable, since these are supposed to be offroaders). I am going to the workshop tomorrow,

Woodhouse, glad to hear you are getting it fixed, sound like you had binding in the rack somewhere...wonder if LR got a defective batch of these steering racks. I'd imagine they'll be jumping all over this as binding/hard to steer steering is a recipe for disaster!
