Special Edition Evoque P212
Hi,
I have received a newsletter about Autosalon Geneve from Range Rover Switzerland.
They display a new Evoque Diesel with 212HP...it's called P212
Does anybody here know if owners of a 190HP SD4 can get this additional 22HP as an offical upgrade from Landrover?

RE: Special Edition Evoque P212
I doubt it is a Land Rover approved power upgrade, Land Rover would fit it on the line to all cars if it were official. Some regions and even some dealers will do ECU upgrades but you will end up with no mechanical warranty and they stand a very high chance of loosing their franchise if they do it to new cars. In the UK we are able to buy Bowler Modified Defenders and some dealers are offering a Bowler sanctioned power upgrade of the Defenders Transit Van engine to 190BHP, but it is NOT a Land Rover sanctioned upgrade - LR allow all the other modifications to suspension and body but not to engines - why would they when they have spent millions of pounds to homologate and test what they supply to ensure that it has the longevity that the factory wants.

It does indeed - looks like all I need to do to mine is buy a fancy keyring, a couple of badges to gone on the black bits on the doors, a centre console badge and some dubious chequered transfers along with an ECU upgrade and I have it already!

A quick google revivals it's been out there since April '14. I'd assume it only the Swiss Importer offering this upgrade package so they'd underwrite the warranty, not that a few extra Bhp would cause any problems.

It is indeed a local Swiss special edition. I'm currently in the process of buying an Evoque tax-free from a Swiss dealer but was told that it was not possible to get the P212 tax-free

RE: Special Edition Evoque P212
I emailed the sales manager and DP at the dealership that I use in London and they have not heard of this particular special edition becoming available in the UK and it may be a market specific model. Let's hope that if the Swiss don't suffer any issues that Land Rover might consider offering it in other markets as some better competition for the Macan and SQ5

LR don't need to make any special editions available in most markets due to demand out stripping supply, give it a couple of years and they'll be a few more runs of 'limited editions'.

RE: Special Edition Evoque P212
Rather than trying to compete with the Macan and SQ5 on performance I would first off rather LR try to compete on reliablity and build quality. On driving quality I doubt any 4 cyl engine, however powerful can be made as smooth as a good V6. However I stand to be corrected and look forwards to trying the new Audi TTS next year.
Evoque Dynamic SD4 Lux Auto Total Rubbish, worst car I have owned - GONE AT LAST!

RE: Special Edition Evoque P212
Don't think the evoque with 212 HP would be considered a contender for the sq5,still almost 100 HP down, plus imagine how bad the fuel economy would be then.
My sq returns better economy even with only 2k on the clock than my evoque ever did.[/i]
My order- fuji white sd4 manual coupe,tech pack,xenons,style 6 20's,pano roof,privacy,front fogs,rear camera,folding mirrors,ebony int/ivory headliner,dec delivery.(still waiting!) Collected 14/01/2012
NOW SOLD as of 26/07/14
Now driving Audi SQ5, everything the Evoque should of been.
