As hot as it is today (just topped 40'C), think I'd like aircon...

Have you seen the prices of the SV-R, I'm thinking the one that started life as the Quavle. I would be frightened to take one on the road they are so rare! Al's Mustang engined RWD ZT is laying on a trailer well mangled after a small argument with the concrete barrier during a track day at Spa...........

Fair point, there is/was an SV-R on Pistonheads in metallic red, it used to belong to my ex business partner. It is priced at £35K but I know they paid a lot less than that so could be worth a punt. It didn't get much use in the time I knew it (July 2006 to late 2009/early 2010).

As said in another post MGTF is also a fun car, I've never owned on but only because there is 3 of us though I very nearly bought one of the very last MGR versions that was at SMC in Slough in the summer of 2006 I think.

Hadn't thought about the MG, used to own MG Maestro 2.0 and 2.0lTurbo, and one of the first MG Metros. The 2.0ltr Maestro was a very underrated car, could give a Golf Gti a fright just a pity about the interior!

Or, a Mercedes CLK convertible. I have owned one from new since 1999. You can pick then for nothing and the 55AMG V8 will certainly put a smile on your face roof down along a country road.

Anybody any experience of the Honda CR-Z?

A very underrated car was the Honda S2000, great reliability, fast and rear wheel drive and there's a chance you can get a low mileage one with lots of history.

Be aware the new CRZ is a hybrid, I believe the old one was good, particularly the one with the folding metal roof, VTEC engines are always a peach.

You could try the wild card of a Westfield with a hyabusa engine, get. Get a nice conversion and you will have a really fun summer car, that platform offers amazing fun, even the ford or vauxhall powered ones are good value and offer lots of thrills
