Some Rumours need Resolving

I am hearing that the TD4 is stopping production and that there is a price increase to the Pure Tech Pack, apparently dealers have been sent an e-mail.

I've asked Nick @Land Rover to confirm if this is true.

Wow, do you mind me asking how good your source is likely to be?

I'm guessing the profit margins are bigger on the SD4 than the TD4, and if LR are confident they'll still have no issues selling them faster than they can build them...

It comes from a dealer who told a customer this.

Hence my question to LR Customer Services.

I prefer fact to rumours, so hopefully we will have the answer soon.

Wow - if this is accurate it's a hell of an announcement! I get the profit margins take, but it will alienate a whole chunk of their stated target sector, which is the first time LR buyer, by repositioning the LRE further upmarket and potentially out of reach again.

(Thinks... I wonder if this up's the ante on the residuals on the TD4???)

Until this is confirmed, I would take it with a pinch of salt.
You know what "some" dealers are like, pushing for a SD4 sale or "sign today if you want a TD4" Etc....

And did Hitler really only have one ball? What was Richard Gere doing with that hamster? Where's Lord Lucan? Are you the Lindbergh baby? We need answers!

Another rumour is that there is no Si4 for the UK because the shortage of engines mean they are going to less diesel-friendly countries. As for the ed4, why would anyone bother? What we really need is a 3.0 V6.

Not sure about the engine, but they are currently working on their "fast RRE". (according to my dealer)

Yes, interesting, I hope there's some real substance in there and not just some go-faster body kit.

It will come eventually but I think a few years down the line. JLR will be opening there own engine plant in 2015 I think it was said, so SD/TD4 as we no it will both stop.

There is no real need for the TD4 both manual cars are evenly matched, so it won't come as a surprise. I don't see this obsession with a performance Evoque, its a 4wd not a hot hatch
