Rubber Seals Perishing

noticed today that the rubber seals below the windows (external) have gone hard and brittle, and the rubber is perishing.

Anyone else come across this?

What sort of detergent do you use to wash the car and do you frequently use a snowfoam lance?

A Pangea Green New Defender 110 First Edition is now sitting on my drive alongside British Racing Green Electric Mini Cooper SE Level 3. After 21 years in my hands my TDI300 90 was handed on to the next custodian on 15 July 2022.

I use Meguiars Gold Class shampoo and have never used a snow foam lance. I also use autoglym glass cleaner.

RE: Rubber Seals Perishing

Then you can rule that out as the cause as the detergent used in snowfoam can be extremely caustic - enough for it to eat it's way out of some containers!
