Remove Touch Screen, Replace with Aftermerket 2DIN unit?

Hi Guys,

A bit of a strange question, but I figure a couple of the techies might know.

Is it possible to completely remove the 8" Touch Screen and replace it with an aftermarket Pioneer/Alpine unit? Building a custom fascia isn't an issue, but what I would need to know is:

- Will the car start without the Touch Screen installed?
- Is there enough room with the Touch Screen removed to fit a 2DIN unit?

I realise you will loose control of a few minor systems, such as the ambient lighting and valet mode, but those aren't of major concern.
