RE: Real world mpg
Firenze
I thought the same thing with my previous car, Audi Q5 2.0 Petrol. First full tank of fuel gave 21.5 mpg. 1 year and 9,500 miles later that increased to 22 mpg! My driving is mixed with some B roads, dual carriageway and commuter queing. Even, when I sold it, on an 80 mile dual carriageway drive at 75mph, I only achieved 27.8 mpg. Hence my reason for choosing the Evoque SD4, which is not too great either; returning 29.5 mpg for its first 1,000 miles of mixed driving.

RE: Real world mpg
Better news here too.
I reset my MPG at 1000 miles (I'm now on about 1200) and my average is now showing as 24.5 as opposed to 23....
Heading in the right direction..... if I could get to 26 I would be very pleased..... (Si4)..
Ali.
Black Dynamic Si4 - gone but not forgotten.

RE: Real world mpg
Run from Manchester to Bristol and back on Wednesday
320 miles total averaged 40.8 according to the trip
Very gentle driving and usually cruising around 60 but wouldn't have been able to go much faster due to traffic and Roadworks.
On the journey down the average was 42
Noticed that the Evoque needs to be generally doing 50 +MPH before it will stay in 6th gear so suspect cruising in the early 50's would return better Mpg.
Just comming up to 1500 miles in total on the clock

RE: Real world mpg
Havent read all 48 pages of posts so someone might have mentioned this earlier (apologies if they have). I previously ran a BMW X5 which returned 33(ish) mpg during the summer and dropped to about 25mpg in the winter. The drop is nothing to do with driving style its purely to do with all the extra stuff we dont normally use in the summer such as air con/climate, heated seats, blower fan, heated f & r screens. All of these use huge amounts of 'electricity' which makes the alternator work harder which creates a resistance which is transferred to the engine through the belts which means more fuel to do the same job. Simply put - try to use as few of the ancilliaries as possible (none preferably) and see just how much your economy increases. The worst offenders by far are the air con, heated seats and screens and if you can get away without using them you will probably see a 10%+ increase in economy. Would be interested to see the results.
Pure, SD4, Auto, 5 door, Firenze Red, Ebony/Ebony, privacy, rear camera, front sensors, fog lights, spare wheel, auto lights and wipers - Delivered 14.3.15
Gone but not forgotten - Old rattly 1.3.12 - 31.5.13 - Pure, SD4, manual, 5 door, Fuji, 19" style 4, ebony/ebony, spare wheel, privacy.
