Real world mpg

Sounds good! How many miles has the car done? What were you doing on average before? What kind of roads and speed were you doing?

Interesting, a TD4 and youve only had it a few days and getting 40+mpg, no way I could get my SD4 into the 40s unless i found a 50mph straight empty road with no obstructions.

Official figures were the same which suggested only mapping when you have your foot down and not much difference in cruising speeds, seems this may not be as I assumed!

I noticed that too, which in reality does seem strange, if they return the same, why bother with the lower power version. I think this highlights the problem with the government tests. i guess on the rolling road the SD and TD return the same, but in reality the TD could be better (as you would expect).

Guys try zeroing the trip while rolling on different roads to see what results are. Don't forget the cold start can ruin your average figures.

But a cold start is part of your average figures, so by not including it you would be conning yourself.

You could light a small fire under your car each morning before driving, that should warn the engine block up a bit?

& don't forget that the 'official' tests are carried out from a cold start

Latest MPG update (since I was warned due to a refinery going into administration fuel may rocket! so filled up)

A little improvement, but this really is a good as it gets. mostly 50mph stuff some hilly drives, 30min runs generally with some longer runs of same nature, very little motorway or town.

Average speed 37mph, Trip 37.6mpg, Actual 36.7mpg, 2200 miles total

   

I am exactly the same philskill with my manual...did manage a 42 once...about the same lieage as you too.

Had my pure SD4 MANUAL SINCE NOV beautiful car but fuel consumption is 31mpg locally and 35 mpg combined. Been back to dealers a couple of times next stop landrover! Should be 49 mpg combined no where even close to land rovers claims any one else in the same boat with theres?
